In June 1997, we, Tony Sansum and Sue Aitken opened the Thornbury Garden Shop in the Courtyard just off the High Street in Thornbury a bustling market town in South
Gloucestershire. There had been a small Garden shop here for about 15 years before but the site had been shared with other businesses. Gradually we have expanded our business and to-day every inch of space is full of either plants, garden sundries or pet supplies.
The business is a small independent company, which employs just 6 members of staff in addition to the owners.
Many of the plants sold are grown by Tony and virtually all those not grown by him are hand picked from other nurseries to ensure consistent quality. Vegetable plants are our speciality with something available nearly all year round for those wanting to join in and 'Grow Your Own' food.
In addition to vegetable plants we have a huge range of Seed Potatoes in the spring along with the recent introduction of summer planting potatoes during July and August. We stock Onion Sets and a good range of seeds from MR FOTHERGILLS, SUTTONS and THOMPSON AND MORGAN. In addition to seed packets we have a good selection of loose peas and beans allowing customers to buy exactly what they need at very competitive prices.
During Autumn and Spring we are also pleased to supply a good range of bulbs from TAYLORS BULBS.
To ward off the pests and diseases that provide home gardeners with a continual headache we stock a good range of chemicals and where possible organic alternatives to combat bugs, weeds and fungi. Garden sundries such as string, wire, HOZELOCK watering equipment, labels, bamboo sticks and a whole range of other accessories are all available to provide a good service to local and visiting gardeners. Products from manufacturers such as BAYER, DOFF, SCOTTS AND GROWING SUCCESS are all regularly in stock.
We are members of the Horticultural Trade Association and sell and accept National Garden Gift Vouchers.
